FAQ

Who can practice Kendo?
Any person no matters its condition nationality or sex. The minor ones will need a special permission from parents or tutors.

Exists some medical insurance?
All members of the club are beneficiary of a sport’s medical insurance, just joining to our official federation.

How is a regular training?
Kendo is not only a fight: there is a set of norms and concepts destined to acquire a disposition, an attitude based in the old and specific techniques and beliefs of samurais. That’s because physical training is fundamental but nevertheless the only ingredient of a training in Renshinkan Barcelona.

When and where?
Our days of training are:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 20,30 to 22,00
Place: Gimnàs Dinamis, Travessera de Gràcia 417.

and Saturday from 16:00 to 18:00 :
Place: Escola Industrial de Barcelona
c. Viladomat 262

What is needed to train?
In order to begin: sport clothing or kimono and shinai (bamboo sword). After 2-3 months: hakama (Japanese skirt-trousers) and kendo-gi (jacket). After a few period of time armour or bogu, which is made up of: men (helmet), do (chest and belly armour), kotes (globes) and tare (protection of pelvic zone).

How much it cost a kendo’s equipment?
The prices are divers. Low range: shinai: 30€, hakama and kendo-gi: 100€, bogu complete: 300€

Apart of training, there is some other activity?
The training of Monday, Wednesday and Friday are not the only activities of the club:

-Iaido: for those advanced pupils, they will be able to perform katas of Iaido, handling a real katana learning the different schools or styles.

-Short seminars: the club informs about all that activities inside and outside Barcelona related to Kendo and Iaido.

-Examinations of degree: from 5 Kiu to 1 kiu in the club. The rest of kius and Dan in short seminars and matches attended by the instructors of the club.

-Joining others clubs: Kendo is an activity that becomes rich practising with another people and instructors. Throughout the year many occasions appear to measure our learning with others clubs, inside and outside Barcelona.
